The owner of Erin’s Deli, Erin Gauntner , had a dream of having her own Deli. With a dream and a plan…Erin’s Deli is now opened and serving satisfied customers. The Deli is located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh in the K & L Gates Building at 210 6th Avenue.
If you haven’t been in the Deli you are in for a real treat. The upscale but homey Deli is both comfortable and classy. But it is the food that draws the customers back to the Deli for breakfast, lunch or just to take out coffee and a pastry. The Deli has a number of tables and a bar for eating. Or in the summer there is a place to eat outdoors. Or maybe you are in a rush and just want to do a take-out; the Deli has that covered as well.
The fresh food and signature ciabatta bread, made fresh daily by the in house bakery and pastry chef, adds quite a dining experience from the usual fast food fare. If you are in town, you have to try one of the many signature sandwiches like the Spicy Meatloaf Sandwich with pepper jack, sundried tomatoes, chipotle aioli on white loaf bread. This is a sandwich that would make your mother proud. Or how about the mouth-watering Balsamic Pulled Pork - slow braised cooked balsamic pulled pork, topped with a bacon relish, sweet cherry slaw and cheddar cheese on rustic ciabatta bread. Or try The Woody Signature Sandwich with salami, capicola, roasted red peppers, sharp provolone, arugula and balsamic aioli on ciabatta bread.
The Deli offers all sorts of options, like fresh foods, vegan and even gluten free food. If you are looking for the unusual there is always a quinoa salad. Some of the other signature salads are Bang Bang Chicken served with baby greens, shredded cabbage, grilled chicken, sliced red peppers, wonton strips, shredded carrots, crushed cashews, and cucumbers with Erin’s Bang Bang homemade dressing.
There are also the classic sandwiches that you can choose from the breads, meats, and the half sandwich includes a half salad of your choice or a small soup with a drink. If Wraps are your choice you have a lot to choose from like the Grilled Chicken Caesar, Bang Bang Chicken, Mediterranean or Italian. Hot Sandwiches are also on the menu. Or maybe you would rather have one of the home-made soups that are served daily: broccoli & cheddar, garden vegetable & rice, stuffed pepper, or chicken noodle.
If you stop in for breakfast you have choices that range from soufflés, or simple bagels, breakfast sandwiches, steel cut oatmeal to fruit cups. Perhaps you are looking for something sweet to go along with your food order. There is always something fresh from the bakery like tartlets, strudel, muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls or special cookies or cupcakes.
Erin’s Deli is one of those choices in the downtown area where you walk in and you will feel right at home with the good food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. Next time stop in at the Deli for breakfast, or lunch or something to take home and say hi to Erin!
